Franceine and Jakerian [back]

“God sent me here,” said Franceine with a tear in her eye. She was talking about Habitat for Humanity and how grateful she was to be accepted into the program.
Franceine Jones is a Washington County native. She has a warm, friendly, and outgoing personality. She is a hard worker, dependable, is a self-described “neat freak,” and loves to decorate and do crafts. The two most important people in Franceine’s life are her two children, Knimae-ja, 21, and Jakerian, 13. They are her motivation to work for her own home, to have a garden and a safe secure home.
Despite her full time job at Aaron’s Sales and Lease, where she has worked for almost 4 years in the credit department. Franceine has found herself unable to afford a regular rental and lives in subsidized housing.
Franceine’s daughter is now living on her own hoping one day to return to college and complete her studies. Jakerian is hoping to go to college when he is old enough. Jakerian is an A-B student, loves sports, and belongs to the Boy’s and Girl’s Club at both Elgin Station and Pennsylvania Ave. Jakerian says he never gets D’s in school because “mommy won’t tolerate that!”
Being a homeowner is a long-time dream of Franceine’s. She wished for it to happen before her daughter moved out on her own but now holds hope for a place that she and Jakerian will call home. She is excited to be working with Habitat and to have the chance to work on her own home. She spends her days off from her employment working to complete her sweat equity hours toward her new home. She has completed a budget class to prepare her for homeownership and beyond. Her desire is to complete college, become a responsible homeowner and to provide her son with the stability every family deserves.
