For the next five years, Washington County residents who earn and purchase a new home from Habitat for Humanity will receive high-speed broadband internet access, compliments of Antietam Broadband. New Habitat for Humanity residents will receive one year of free Antietam Broadband services. “Antietam Broadband has long supported Habitat for Humanity”, said Brian Lynch President, Antietam Broadband. “Using our resources, we saw an opportunity to expand that commitment so families can participate in the digital economy. We hope this also improves each family’s successful transition to homeownership.” “The partnership between Antietam Cable and Habitat for Humanity ensures that the families we serve have access to the technology that will provide opportunities for their future”, said Joyce A. Antietam Broadband’s commitment to Habitat for Humanity starts with the two most recent homes completed this fall which now have active services. Over the course of the next five years, Antietam will install and activate broadband in all homes completed by Habitat. Antietam will provide modem and Wi-Fi services free in addition to the Broadband service. Habitat for Humanity of Washington County, MD strives to create a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Habitat partners work with community volunteers to construct affordable homes, which are sold to qualified families through a no-interest loan. Habitat houses are sold for their appraised price, with the actual dollar amount varying.
• Homeowners make a down payment and receive a mortgage that can range in length from 20 to 30 years.
• Payments include mortgage principal, real estate taxes and insurance.
• Homeowner’s payments are reinvested to build or rehabilitate houses for future Habitat families.
