Diagne/Toure Family

Babacar, from Senegal and his wife,  Aissatou from Mali have lived in the United States for more than 20 years.  The couple were introduced by his brother and were married in 2007.  They are the proud parents of 4 children; two sons and two daughters. They have always wanted their own home.  When they applied to Habitat for Humanity the family was living in a two bedroom apartment that was much too small and paid nearly $1000 a month in rent.  Babacar recently stopped commuting to Montgomery County to stay in town to help in the hair supply and braiding shop in Hagerstown which Aissatou owns. The first time the children saw the house and realized it would be theirs, they were ecstatic and overjoyed. The older children finally have their own rooms and there is space for everyone! It was a great day and the family is extremely happy in their new home.
